DIY Home Spa Day 2

Start off the year with treating yourself to a relaxing and refreshing DIY home spa day

Bath Bombs

What You Need:

1 Cup Baking Soda

½ Cup Citric Acid

½ Cup Epsom Salt

½ Cup Corn Starch

2 ½ Tablespoons Almond Oil

¾ Tablespoon Water

2 teaspoons Essential Oil

Food Coloring

Bath Bomb Mold

In a large mixing bowl whisk the baking soda, corn starch, citric acid, and Epsom salt together. In a separate smaller bowl mix together the water, almond oil, and essential oil (we used a mix of patchouli and lavender). The essential oil is where you can really get creative! Try adding in sandlewood and frankincense, or eucalyptis and peppermint for an indulgent relaxing aroma.

Slowly whisk the wet ingredients into the dry, be careful to go very slowly so the ingredients do not prematurely react. The mixture should have the texture of damp sand. We wanted our bath bombs to have layers of different vibrant colors, so we separated the mixture into small bowls and added a good amount of food coloring to each.

To mold the bath bombs use a spoon to scoop in some of the mixture, then use the back of the spoon to press and compact each layer.  Make sure that both sides of the mold are overflowing with the mixture before firmly compressing the mold together. Tap the mold lightly to loosen the bath bomb and carefully remove from the mold. Set your bath bomb out to dry for at least 24 hours, drop into your bath and enjoy!

Peppermint Bath Salts

What You Need:

3 Cups Epsom Salt

½ teaspoon Food Coloring (Red or Pink)

Peppermint Essential Oil

2 Cups Baking Soda

1 Cup Citric Acid

Airtight Containers

In a large dry bowl pour in the Epsom salt, the food coloring, and 20 drops of peppermint essential oil, mix until combined. Stir in the baking soda and then the citric acid. Divide up the peppermint bath salts into airtight glass containers, pour a cup of the mixture into your bath for a therapeutic Epsom salt bath and relax!

Sugar Lip Scrub

What You Need:

1 Tablespoon Sugar

1 Tablespoon Honey

1 teaspoon Olive Oil

Small Containers

Combine the honey and sugar in a small bowl, add the olive oil and mix well. Spoon the completed scrub into lip-gloss containers. Before going to bed, take a small amount of the scrub and rub it onto your lips. Rinse off the lip scrub with water before applying a generous amount of lip balm.
